Being Thankful

Todd Parsley 2November, Wow! is it really November already? This is the month the gets us thinking in the direction of holidays and celebrating with our families and our friends. First on that list is Thanksgiving. What a wonderful holiday this is, and not just because of the food that we will have, but because of the spirit of thanksgiving that should accompany this holiday. Christians should be known always for their thankfulness. Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18, “Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” So as we think about the holiday of Thanksgiving let me remind you as Christians of some things we have to be thankful for always:
THAT GOD GAVE HIS SON TO DIE FOR OUR SINS: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…” John 3:16
FOR OUR BRETHREN: “We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each other abounds.” 2 Thessalonians 1:3
FOR THE WORD: “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according to his divine power has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness…” 2 Peter 1:2-3
FOR PEACE: “…And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
FOR THE HOPE OF HEAVEN: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3-4
